The Architecture of Financial Collapse
SATURDAY
AUGUST 08 2026
2PM-5PM
2h of mentor led followed by 1h of networking
Together, we will examine the institutions, incentives and decisions that underpin modern finance, from the role of commercial and investment banks to the movement of capital through global markets. Using the 2008 Global Financial Crisis as our central case study, we'll trace how mortgages became securities, how leverage amplified risk, why confidence proved more valuable than capital, and how seemingly rational decisions culminated in one of the most consequential market failures in history.
Rather than treating finance as a collection of isolated concepts, this session approaches it as an interconnected system. By identifying the recurring patterns that precede periods of instability, participants will develop a deeper understanding of banking, investing and the mechanisms that continue to shape financial markets long after the crisis itself has passed.
